Paul Lehrer, PhD
Professor of Psychiatry,
Director, Center for Stress Management and Behavioral Medicine
UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School

Jonathan Smith's "Relaxation, Meditation and Mindfulness" is an exceptionally comprehensive, well organized treatise that brings eastern and western science and practice into a remarkable display of both physical and psychological symptom-relief strategies. The "Six Family" approach in outlining techniques is very intriguing and the 15 categories of relaxation states makes a great deal of good sense for the reader. I was especially impressed with the last chapter on Spiritual transitions of this material which in total makes this book a very unique piece of work.
